Two Things*

Since I’m spending a whole lot of unsupervised time feeling like the identical twin of a large lumpy splat of mashed potatoes, I’m sending you to two other sites that talk about doctors and body image.

1. Jen linked to Meg Fowler yesterday. The post is long but oh, so worth it.

2. Did you say crappy doctor? Yes, Mimi did.

*Bonus: here is a phrase my son said last night. I’m going to keep it totally out of context because it’s much better that way. “You know, Mom, I’m just not comfortable yelling vagina the same way I do penis.”

  1. This isn’t related to your current post, but I ran across one of your posts looking for a writing group in Simi Valley. I live in Simi and I was a CW major (haven’t written in ages, but would like to start again) and I have been searching for a workshop type of group in Simi in vain – did you happen to find one?

  2. Haha, I so have to agree with your son on that one!
I have been reading your feeds for awhile now, but am usually too lazy to comment.. or rather, never feel there’s much point.. it’s just me you know?
Anyways, I must say.. you really do have a way with words.. & while it sucks the stuff that’s been going on for you now & it seems, your whole life.. it is also nice to hear someone else verbalising the problems I’m facing myself.

Sometimes I feel like a complete crazy person.. ok well.. I probably am.. but at least I’m not an alone in it ;P

PS. Now I’m interested in what the original context could be.. sometimes when left to their own devices, the mind can come up with much more bizarre scenarios than you’re originally trying to cover up! 😉

  3. Ugh…don’t you just love doctors (NOT) who say things like that? I often wonder just where they went to school.

I’m not trying not to think of the whole context thing, but am failing miserably. 🙂 Heh…kids are good at coming up with the most amazing things.

  4. I think it has to do with the number of syllables in the words, i.e., penis=2 and vagina=3. It’s that pesky ‘a’ at the end that interrupts the flow….as it were.

  5. (De-lurking to say…) I saw on an earlier post you were talking about your pharmacist not helping out enough… Obviously (in my opinion) your doctor should be explaining your drugs to you. However, I grew up in Simi next door to the most amazing pharmacist. I KNOW that he would be more than willing to talk to you about any drugs you have questions about. If you’d like to talk to him, I can definitely, at the very least, let you know where he is working now and let him know that you’re coming by to chat. PLEASE email me if you haven’t already found someone to help you out.
