Olympic Coverage

I get asked 6 or 7 times a day if I’m watching the Olympics and what I think about the Olympics and if I’m enjoying the Olympics. I’ve been so half-hearted about the entire thing since it started, what with the funky intro music selections and the entire odd opening ceremonies. But watching the actual coverage has been so HARD for me but I wasn’t sure why until I read Matt H.’s take on it. I agree with his opinion. I would so enjoying watching the raw satellite feeds of each event online instead of the crappy hollywoodized tv coverage.

  1. It hasn’t been a good sign that every time I think of flipping over to NBC to see what is on they are in a commercial. Hence, I haven’t seen any of the events at all. This is highly unusual for me, as I love watching the Winter Olympics (except figure skating since the whole Kerrigan, Harding thing).

I would love a raw feed too and would probably be so fascinated with it that I would ignore other more necessary tasks. (SMILE) Oh well, I guess we need some live video-bloggers covering the Olympics.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree. In addition to the Entertainment tonight style “reporting,”I think the video footage has been horrible! What’s with all the glare and overexposure and hideous camera angles? Even when they do finally cover the event you can’t tell what the hell is going on. I normally LOVE the Olympics but this year it’s just been painful.

Also, I love your blog :o)

  3. jenn – i was totally trying to enjoy the figure skating until the michelle K. thing. that kind of left me deflated.

megan – thanks! yes – i’m tired of the glitzy-bling-bling style. i just want to see the people do their thing!
