Making Me Feel Old and Vulnerable

Don’t make me get out my glasses and try to decipher your secret code that keeps getting longer and longer and wonkier and wonkier. For, I am not spam. And yet, I feel for you in your quest to keep the spam out. I really do. But, man, you’re making me feel old and vulnerable. I am not a Master Decoder. I am but a mere mortal with limits. And sadly, these limits include no Decoder Ring.

  1. Sometimes, I have to enter those codes two or even maybe ten times. It’s a royal pain in the arse. I took mine off. I’ve removed it before. And then I put it back. And then I took it down. You get the idea I reckon 🙂

  2. Ohf. That is bad.

I was forced to use that feature though. I had some spam come through for flat irons, and I thought, “Okay, the word verification is coming back!” as I waived my finger madly in the air.

In other news, I’ve not been able to decipher what some of the letters are. It just pops up another one though, so it isn’t too painful.

  3. Oh sweet jeebus, I hope that wasn’t at my place. I sincerely wish that they would start using a serf font, because it would make it a little easier to tell the differences between the letters. Also? Does sticking to all the awkward-to-type letters really help with the spam?

  4. unbelievable.

i’m 22 and i don’t wear glasses or contacts and i STILL have problems with those stupid things.

the worst being when i tried to buy tickets for something and of course lost the ones i wanted because it took so many damn tries to decipher some made up skewed word.

    harumph.

  5. I swear I had one that looked just like that and when I decoded it, it spelled “pooj eater”. Now I don’t know what a pooj is, but I still found it quite offensive.

  6. ugh. i wear glasses and i have to stop and get really close to the screen and double check my typing and it hurts!!

    so, uh, yeah.

  7. Yea, absolutely. I think this same thing almost every day. I am a bad typist and sometimes I have to type the stupid things 3 or 4 times to get it right. I am with Schmutzie on this one – why all the Qs Xs and Zs?

  8. That’s how they make me feel, too. Yikes. And I used to be a Blogger Babe, but I’m now a WordPress Woman and thank-you, thank-you WordPress for taking care of all my spam without ever uttering a complaint or forcing me to make people to do back handsprings just to prove they are not spam.
